Here's how it's currently done:

  1. Open multiple forecast apps

    Try and cross-reference between them and interpret what the wind (direction and speed), swell (direction, period and height) (not to mention secondary and tertiary swells...), tide (height) are doing.

  2. Apply conditions to knowledge of your spot

    You've got a mental model of your spot. Maybe you've been surfing there your whole life and have it wired, maybe not. You get a gut feeling of what it might be like for the conditions over the next few days.

  3. Try to remember specific past conditions

    What were the exact conditions of that incredible day last winter? Or the day of days 10 years ago? Unless you kept a black book of notes, you'll never remember. But we all trick ourselves into thinking we remember these things.

  4. Check a cam (if there is one)

    If there's a camera at your spot, you can check it. If not, well I guess that you have get down to the ocean. But that only tells you what it's like right now. What's it going to be like on Thursday if the swell goes 10 degrees more south, the period increases four seconds but the swell height drops by a meter?

  5. Get to the ocean and check for yourself

    Because you can't really know until you go. The feeling of uncertainty in your stomach as you're about to see the surf for the first time is the reason that Lazy Surf Report exists. Surf Forecasting is still a mystery.

  6. The future remains a mystery

    You still aren't really sure what it's going to be like in a few days time

    Focused on the spots you care about, so that you can plan your week around possible good sessions.

  3. Every evening: a Whatsapp message with an overview of your spots

    Forecasts change, we constantly update your personalised forecasts so you don't miss out.

  4. After you surf: tell us how it was

    We record the exact conditions of your session, as well as your subjective feedback points and something memorable that happened. In the future, if similar conditions are forecast we will remind you about this session.
